I'm just starting my practice and have been asked to do a group weight loss (fat release ) session. I want this to be a fun, entertaining, highly effective presentation. I would appreciate any suggestions offered concerning the best induction, suggestibility games, most effective group script, or any proven established format/program.

Thanks!

Hello Ella,

Best group induction will be the Group Elman, or some variation of it. Bucket/balloon suggestibility "game/test" is reliable.. so is the 'eating a lemon' visualization.

My honest opinion of group sessions - They can potentially be good for marketing. They can potentially be good for experience. They can potentially be a good demonstration. They can potentially help maybe 15% to 30% the attendees. They can hurt your reputation and that of hypnosis. They can be in the hypnotists best interest but not the client's/group's. More people from the group will have mediocre, or no, results than will have good results. That is NOT good for your reputation. Especially when just starting out. I have a full time hypno practice with a good number of clients coming from professional referrals. I get phone call requests to do group weight and smoking or stage. I turn them down or refer them to someone who is willing to do them. My professional reputation is too valuable to waste on group 'sessions'. I'm more than happy to do group demo's.

Tracking client results for the past six years has shown me one-on-one sessions give the client the best chance of success.

My suggestion to you is request to do a demo instead group weight loss. You're new to things and don't want to extend yourself too far.. just like you don't want to sell yourself short.. find that balance point. Some suggestibility testing, group induction and basic stress reduction/relaxation script. Use as many convincers as you're comfortable using - possibly Don Mottin's "Color Red". Have the participants rate their stress from 1 to 10 before, and then again, afterward so they can see the individual subjective improvement. Do some fun stuff in there too. That will show yourself, and you're budding practice, in a professional and competent light.
