Hi everyone,
today I had a lady for a Suggestion-session, who

1) could not imagine being in her test-situation and feeling good (despite all my effort)

2) was not able to lift her arm after given adequate suggestions (hand levitation) and

3) opened her eyes before I called the last figure at the end of the session.

Afterward she didn´t look very relaxed. On the contrary: I had the weird feeling she was upset.

I would say this lady has developed a negative attitude towards my session, because her last session didn´t work for her as imagined.

Did anyone know a similar case in her/his practice and can build myself up a little bit

Thank you for your replies in advance.

Best wishes from Germany (and sorry for my bad English)

René

Hi Rene...Rene Here too From Denmark....Grüß Gott

Sure...Client coming to the "hypnotist" for a quick fix. See them once in a while. You see...they really wont take the responsibility for there own session. They want you to push the btn. so they get "fixed"

How is your pretalk with those clients? When I feel that the clients are responding like this, I use extra time to ensure that they understand that its the CLIENTS responsibility to enter hypnosis, because the client also OWN the feeling, or "problem" that they want to get "fixed". I spend time telling them, that if I put a paper on the floor....They can TRY to pick it up or they can pick it up.....(Then I put the paper on the floor and let them do it!)
Most think its stupid etc...Because its SO easy....to do....

When they get this...:THEN they also get the idea about hypnosis, the responsibility for whats going on in the hypnosis etc.
And then again...I will use an instant induction to make them go into hypnosis easy and fast... Use Pyramiding the induction by finger snap. What I do is that I put in an posthypnotic suggestion on the first hand drop induction, that when I count them "up" they will look at me...And when I snap my fingers and say sleep, they will go even deeper then they are now.....Do this 8-9 times and I guaranty that they are DEEP.

BUT nothing works if you don't the the rapport that you need to get hypnosis going...
(Thats the paper etc...)

When the day is over, you will STILL see some that simply WONT follow your suggestions and go into hypnosis. Normally they will. But once in a while...They wont!

Hi René,
thank you for your fast reply. It is much appreciated and built me up. Did we have contact a couple of months ago? I dealt with a hypnotist from Denmark who was so nice and sent me a movie about fast induction methods.

One question left:
When you use the fast hand drop induction; how many of your clients respond to it, really ?

Best wishes from Germany
René

Rene,

I've had this happen several times. I've learned to keep an eye out for it and, if spotted, to stop the session immediately. If things look 'off' and you continue, it can make it more difficult to make future progress.

I have come across new clients acting like this with various things going on:

1. Like Rene from Denmark said - looking for a quick fix... need to review pretalk
2. Had previous experience with a hypnotist that was 'bad' so they are on edge
3. Had previous traumatic experience with a male (which I am) (abuse)
4. Had a previous traumatic experience with a bald male (which I also am)
5. Told that hypnosis will allow the devil to steal their soul and didn't want to tell me they had this belief
6. Was only at my office because their spouse wanted them there and they lied about this to me.
7. Did not like me asking about her history of sexual abuse and her currently cheating on her spouse as it related to their current high stress level. So she became less cooperative - just going through the motions.
8. They just don't like me (can you believe it?)

People have issues they may not initially want to talk about. If it gets in the way of the session, put on the brakes and address it. When I spot it, I'm usually able to address it and get past it. If not, I want them to leave without giving us both the frustration of a lousy session.

Good luck,

Hi René
Yes it was my video you saw. How many respond...Well All...Main thing is; I DONT do this if I dont have the Rapport I need!
Maybe this is the difference. Using time to ENSURE that I have the Rapport is Vital...

And ONE thing...KEEP ON TALKING AFTER THE HAND DROP...Give them 2 sec. and they "Wake up" and says " WHAT WAS THAT?!"

So keep talking, Deepening etc...For 15-20 sec. minimum, and then everything works for you.

The Video you saw was this one;

Have fun...Remember..."JUST DO IT" works...

Hi Patrick,
thank you for sharing your wisdom with me and taking the time to give me such a comprehensive answer. It is much appreciated and shows me, once again, that it is not always up to us, but also up to the client.

Best wishes from Germany

Hi Rene
I always do a first time consult before the next session. Yes I start work a little at the end of that first session but this session is mainly to explain hypnosis, establish rapport/learn about the issue and then 'practice' hypnosis. The practice is the Elman induction [actually the Innisfree/ Elman which is a bit longer]. then I use my Hypnovirgin deepener [which basically informs the client of what they may be or should be feeling] and then I do an Erickson style stress reliever using a topic which the client has said she likes [in her intake form]. I never do the eyelock in the first session. Then I do basic convincers which I have consciously told the client she may or may not respond to [the subconscious is different for each of us -I merely need to know what is effective]. Last but not least I establish ideomotor and investigate the issue. I've found this sets the groundwork well for the next session and usually gets the client on board. these scripts can be found on my site.

Hello Feir.

What is an Innisfree/Elman induction?
Do you have a link to a description of this technic?
