Background
Jim Swearingen founded Bay Area Hypnotherapy in 2006 and devoted himself to developing a healing practice where people can find a peaceful refuge from the outside world. Clients experience the healing of life-changing hypnotherapy and learn to access the power of their subconscious minds in a safe, caring, supportive environment. Here they experience the serenity and peace necessary to apply themselves without distraction to learning and practicing Self-Hypnosis. As we gently guide them to proficiency, they begin to create permanent, beneficial change in their lives.
Jim received the Master of Divinity from General Theological Seminary, NYC, in 1962 and was ordained an Episcopal Priest. He brings decades of experience as a pastoral counselor, teacher and spiritual advisor to his Hypnotherapy practice. Spiritual counseling is carefully given with respect for the client’s core beliefs and unique spiritual perspective. Years of study and pastoral counseling have blessed Jim with an enlightened perspective, blending his ability as a skilled hypnotherapist with special insights to help clients reach their goals and achieve their full potential.
In 2006 Jim was certified as a Consulting Hypnotherapist and founded Bay Area Hypnotherapy in San Francisco. In hindsight, it was against all odds and despite chronic and severe disabilities that Jim successfully developed his practice. In fact, rather than holding him back, the physical limitations he faces daily have only served to make him a more compassionate counselor and hypnotist, driven to excel in his passion for helping people. Jim has first-hand knowledge of the power of hypnosis for mental, spiritual and physical healing. He understands the power of hypnosis to motivate, energize and move people to reach the goals they may have thought impossible. The mere existence of Bay Area Hypnotherapy today is a testimony to the marvelous power of hypnosis! Jim’s greatest joy is to pass this gift on to others.
Jim’s professional experience includes “time served” as a Stock Broker, Insurance Agent, Notary Public, Real Estate agent, and college-level Communications Instructor. In 1989 Jim developed and hosted his own radio talk show in Fort Bragg, CA.
While living in Fort Bragg, Jim served on the board of a local alcohol recovery center as counselor and advisor. Jim is a recovering alcoholic with 30 years of sobriety and has helped countless people to deal with their addictions .
Lynn Swearingen brings over 25 years of experience in business as an Assistant and Project Manager to high profile executives across multiple business environments. Highlights include the CEO of a specialty coffee company, the President/CEO of a leading insurance company, the SVP of Corporate Development, Acquisitions and Strategic Planning for a fortune 500 company based in San Francisco and, most recently, 10 years devoted to assisting high level executives in one of the two top-tier management consulting firms in the U.S. to some of the world’s most prestigious business leaders.
As a result, Lynn is able to provide healing Hypnotherapy enhanced by a deep understanding of the career and social issues that dominate today’s work force. She brings to the table specific, helpful insights into the pressures and stressors that professional people face today. Lynn understands first-hand the challenges of work and life balance – of finding time for family, play, exercise and maintaining mental balance. She understands her clients, having experienced the same modern stressors that can trigger emotional upset, depression, anger, resentment, loss of control and self-esteem, and even the disintegration of meaningful relationships. The fulfillment of a career comes with a high price, if not carefully balanced with other life priorities. Hypnotherapy can be a game changer for her clients!
Lynn was certified as a Consulting Hypnotist in 2009. She attended Golden Gate University in San Francisco CA and earned the equivalent of an Associate Degree in Business Administration and a Certificate in Psychology.
